A Death at the Lucky Monkey Empty

Second Scene: A Combat in the Lucky Monkey
A live session was done to cover this scene. Below is a summary of the player's actions. The players are free to add details as they see fit.

When the group arrived at the Lucky Monkey, it was obvious that not all was well. The door was sealed and windows boarded. A large burning pile of human remains was behind the tavern, as well as a pack of baboons lurking in the forest near the tavern. As Steady Hand broke the door, Ormr assumed his Io-given dragon form, rushing into the tavern. The fighting was swift and relatively silent. In the end, all of the bandits were put down, and their leader, Tongue Eater, was captured.

Tongue Eater was interrogated, while being buried up to his neck. Through this interrogation, Ormr and Steady Hand gained quite a bit of information, mainly information regarding the Ebony Triad. The Ebony Triad were the ones who arranged the attack, and their base is located beneath the city of Cauldron. As Steady Hand walked away from the buried Tongue Eater, Ormr finished the vile were-beast off. As the group returned to the city, they brought with them a young whore, a small child, and a new group member.

Details added by Player of Ormr Gwynt.

The two adventurers, as well as Steady-Hand's companion, a large celestial wolf named Kamaren, snuck up to the Lucky Monkey, and did some minor scouting. During this scouting, they discovered the baboon pack behind the Luckey Monkey, as well as the large pile of burning and burnt bodies, but the pair decided to leave that mess to deal with after the major enemies were subdued.

As Steady-Hand busted the front door in (as neither character is particularly stealthy), Ormr transformed into a copper dragon*, and he then charged into the Lucky Monkey. As Ormr's form rattled the foes inside the inn, and as the first foe fell to Ormr's jaws, Steady-Hand rushed into the Lucky Monkey, seemingly unperturbed by this transformation, and quickly slew two more of the foes. Ormr charged into a room to the left of the entrance, and found two more brigands performing lewd acts to an unwilling woman while a child looked on. Ormr quickly killed the two in the room before they had a chance to react, and left as the woman and child started screaming.

From the sounds of battle, it seemed as if Steady-Hand had his room in hand, and then Kamaren rushed into the Inn, and ran into the last room on the floor. While battle should have been joined at that point, the only sounds were screams, then silence from Kamaren's room. Ormr and Steady-Hand then rushed into the basement to discover several more foes, and their target, Tongue Eater. In this room, there was a chilling cold, but nothing could slow the rush of their onslaught, and Ormr and Steady-Hand quickly slew the remaining bandits, while Tongue Eater jumped out of a window that led to the ground above. Kamaren quickly followed, and Ormr left the last of the foes to Steady-Hand to follow Kamaren. Ormr and Kamaren subdued Tongue Eater, and Steady-Hand finished knocking the Were-Baboon out.

Ormr and Steady-Hand returned to the inn, leaving Kamaren to guard the unconscious Were-Baboon. The pair were looking once more for any more survivors in the inn, and for Sarcem's body. As the pair did some exploring, they came to the conclusion that there were no more survivors, but when they went back into the basement, the cold once again chilled them to the bone. The pair did a little searching, and heard, very faintly, a female voice reaching through a door, completely covered in a mold. This mold was then identified to be a special mold tha absorbed heat of any manner, quickly killing flames, and potentially people as well. This type of mold was commonly used to chill food, and to keep it fresh, but it seems as if the Lucky Monkey's store of mold had somehow gotten spread around, and someone tried to kill it with fire. The mold spread to the point where it would take days to clear out, or a very powerful druid to deal with this issue. Ormr had a better idea, and he dug through the rock and earth, burrowing towards an estimated location on the otherside of the mold to aid the girl trapped in the room on the other side of the mold. Through this action, Ormr saved this girl's life.

Ormr reverted back to his human form, and took the girl back up towards the ground floor of the inn. Then Ormr and Steady-Hand went to interrogate the were-baboon, Tongue Eater. The two woke this foul beast up, and then proceded to talk him into giving away his secrets. Much information was gained, and ultimately, Steady-Hand guaranteed the were-baboon that he would not harm the beast, as long as he was willing to share his information. Tongue Eater then spilled most of the information we were looking for, but he knew not where the Wands of Water Control were, and he knew not where his Mistress laired. Steady-Hand turned and walked away, taking Kamaren with him, leaving this evil beast to Ormr Gwynt. As Steady-Hand promised, he did not harm the were-baboon, but Ormr had no such qualms, and quickly relieved Tongue Eater of his head.
